This weekend there will be two events featuring our current Hell's Kitchen Music Society showcase on Throne of Blood records. Part One of the TOB weekend will be on Black Friday November 25th Le Bain will be hosting the release party for Populette's Lasers are Forever at The Standard. Part Two will be the following night at subMercer featuring Throne of Blood's James Friedman. Hope to see you there!

Now available at Nepenthes New York, the Hell's Kitchen Music Society x Throne of Blood Playbutton. For those unfamiliar with the Playbutton concept, it is a 4 cm diameter button containing a digital music player. Extremely portable and conveniently sized, the Playbutton can clip onto your bag or jacket. All the control features are located on the back and the button turns on/off by plugging in your headphones.

The first issue of our Playbutton features a selection of songs from the current HKMS feature, NY record label Throne of Blood.

THRONE OF BLOOD RECORDS

A curated selection of off-kilter dance music from the Brooklyn underground. Helmed by The Rapture, ToB releases music from an international team of DJs and producers.

AKA JK

Originally from Washington DC, Jonathan Kreinik has been making electronic music since the 80's and extensively working as a live sound engineer/producer for the likes of The Rapture, Trans Am, !!!, LCD Soundsystem, and others.

FORD INC

Mat Playford and Paul Woolford met after a very late night spent at Devil Ray Cove during which the two bonded over a love of strange noises and polymono plexus gel. The two decided to combine forces and launch joint exploration missions into quantum hydrodynamics. These missions were made under the name Ford Inc.

ULYSSES

Although a long time advocate of obscure disco and classic techno, Ulysses is currently best known for the piano house anthem "robotic hypnotic adventure" from his Neurotic Drum Band collaboration with John Selway. His music suggests the nostalgic fun of yesterday's classics without overlooking the new sounds of today.

SAARID

"Saarid wishes to promote peace through human understanding, not politics." These words are literally etched into the vinyl of Saarid's debut single. Fusing 80's drum machines with 90's atmospherics, Saarid has crafted a sund that nonetheless feels "now."

POPULETTE

Between frequent DJ gigs, marathon sessions in their studio, and remixes for numerous artists, Populette have staked out a slice of dance music terrain as their own. Populette is all about dance floor energy and analog synths, deep, druggy, and not for the faint hearted.

NNY Presents: 'My V.S.O.P.' by Takeshi Ohfuchi and Throne of Blood for HKMS

Dear friends,

This Thursday October 20th, we will have an opening reception for our new exhibition My V.S.O.P. by Takeshi Ohfuchi of Post O'alls. Post O'alls will also be featured at our new pop-up shop on the mezzanine.

Nepenthes is also be proud to unveil the next segment of the Hell's Kitchen Music Society - the NYC-based dance music record label, Throne of Blood.

From 7PM to 9PM, we will have refreshments and music (live DJ set by Throne of Blood artist POPULETTE) at our NNY store so please come by, say hello, and enjoy a night with your Nepenthes friends.
